  • The Bishop’s Gathering Place–completion. Patsy and Todd have moved in!
  • Laying the cornerstone of church in Ft. Dauphin and first confirmation of members.
  • Dedication of new rectory in Sakaraha.
  • UTO Diocese grant with Diocese of SE Florida gave $38,000 in building the training center in Toliara. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the UTO of the Episcopal Church USA for their financial support.
  • St. Mark’s, Geneva, IL $15,000 for a new church.
  • Short term volunteers and missionaries during July/August; Andrew Sommers, Ursinus College students, St. Mark’s (Geneva, IL), St. David’s (Glenview, IL) Episcopal Combined Mission Team; The Dioc. of S.E. FL; Church of the Ascension, Knoxville, TN Team; PRP Board Members.
  • Safe International travel and partnership networking in USA, England, Uganda and Congo. Todd speaking for evangelistic Mission Africa & the upcoming Lausanne Conference in South Africa.

  • Foundation laid and block going up for a 3-room building to house student evangelist and clergy trainees.
  • For Todd’s upcoming participation in a Capetown 2010 worldwide mission event during September/Cotober 2010.
  • Praise and prayers for grants received to-date and for upcoming grant requests and applications.
  • For the 10-12 students evangelists and clergy that will participate in the next training class that will begin in January, 2010.  It is our largest class to date!  For the USPG grant awarded to fund their training.
  • Mission trips in 2009 included a few construction teams,  Syd Verinder in the fall and students traveling from Ursinus College and Dickinson College during the Christmas holiday.  We welcome more visits–including yours! 
  • Praises for the Downline Minsitry visit in March 2010 and for their excellent leadership and training.
  • Continued prayer and Praise to God for His blessing and the new establishment of a Diocese in Toliara, Southern Madagascar!  (2010)
  • Great thanks for the wonderful fundraising dinner hosted by Diocese of SE Florida in November, 2009 and for over $70,000 raised to support the building of the Bishop’s Gathering Place and Training Center.  Praise to God!!
  • Praises for a great trips by Board Member, Syd Verinder in April and September, 2009 as he determined future training opportunities and microfinanace projects.  He also toured several of the outlying parishes, the site for the cathedral and training center property, and worshipped with the McGregor’s during Holy Week and Easter.  Syd’s photos are also provided in our Madagascar Photo Gallery.  Thanks, Syd!
  • Todd and Rev. Patsy have spent four months over this past year speaking in local US churches, encouraging the body of Christ to partner in mission and ministry opportunities. They returned to the US in May and June, 2009 with several church visits, continued work on their Doctorate of Ministry degrees and Todd’s attendance as a keynote speaker at the Albany Diocesean Convention.  They also were in the US during October and November, 2009 with several speaking engagements, a People Reaching People Board meeting and other fundraising activities.  For continued prayer for health, wisdom, discernment and God’s provision for their speaking engagements and commitments.
  • Praise for the mission trip from South Florida/Tennessee in July and for all their work preparing and leading several Alpha course training sessions and classes.  Thank you to the Chapel of St. Andrews and Florida/Tennessee missionaries who visited during the first two weeks of July, 2009.
  • Praise for the Anglican Church plant in Ft. Dauphin and for the missionary work of Rev. William Roberts and his wife, Ingrid, from St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church in Deerfield, Illinois.  Praises for revival in Madagascar and the growth of the Ft. Dauphin church community.
  • Thanks for a wonderful week with the mission team from Boca Raton in November, 2008 and for short-term missionary visits throughout 2009.  Praises for Marion Phipps’ visit and for the wonderful photos now posted on the website gallery!  Thanks Marion!
  • 5 new churches built in Ankilifaly, Morondava, Sakarana, Mahabo and Anketrika; the evangelists and clergy serving in these church plants. Dedication of church in Sakarana on November 29th, 2008  Please pray for the baptisms and confirmations that will occur in this congregation.
  • Prayer/Praises for the 20 baptisms and 6 confirmations at St. Luke’s on Sunday, August 2, 2009.  This church is located next to Patsy and Todd’s home in Madagascar.  There were over 200 people in attendance….just overwhelming growth since Easter 2 years ago when 20 people attended.  Their neighborhhood is being transformed and renewed as hope and joy are apparant in the people all around them.
  • English-speaking Church services on Saturday night.
  • Todd has recently led Bible studies in Mauritius and has spent time in the Canterbury Diocese building relationships, visiting churches and raising funds and awareness for the ministry.
  • In the spring 2008, People Reaching People, Inc. was established as a non-profit organization. The Board of Directors have developed a formal Mission Statement, Core Values and a Business Plan, suited to meet the needs of this forward-moving ministry.  Their 2009 Board meeting was held in mid-November in south Florida.  Praise and Prayers for God’s continued guidance and discernment for the ministry and for new leaders to be raised in 2010.
  • For Patsy and Todd’s attendance and participation in the Lambeth Conference,  July/August 2008.
  • Thanks for funds to purchase a Ford Ranger double cab truck.
  • Thanks for purchase of land in Anketrika for a church.
  • Thanks for the land donated for a church in Ambatobe.
  • United Thanks Offering (UTO) raising $60,000 to assist with bishop’s residence/diocesan center.
  • Thanks to the Diocese of SE Florida for the funds to purchase 4 hectacres of land for a women’s porject in Betaola.
  • Thanks to the Diocese of SE Florida to helping to finalize health insurance coverage for the family over the next three years.
  • Thanks and praises for the 5 clergy and 9 Evangelists working with Todd and Patsy during this time.
  • Thanks to the Lord for the new partnership with SAMS as our new missions sending agency.

Prayer Requests:

We greatly appreciate your continued prayer for these specific requests:

  • Revival within eastern Africa and the United States.
  • Praise God for the creation of a new diocese in southern Madagascar and for the favorable Standing Committee report of the Diocese of Antananarivo in May, 2009.  For the proposal that formalized the new diocese at the Synod in July, and with God’s help, a new diocese to be established during 2010 under the leadership of Bishop Todd McGregor.  For the many meetings, decisions and paperwork details to be completed in the weeks ahead.
  • For Easter services to be held in the new Bishop’s Gathering Place, as two churches will meet togther that day, for the confirmation service.
  • For the new Ft. Daulphin church plant, called St. Gregory’s.  For the 25 baptisms and confirmations on Palm Sunday.  For families that have come to faith together.
  • For Patsy and Todd’s travels to the US in April-June 2010.  For their time at the SAMS missions retreat, New Wineskins event, Albany Diocese and Todd’s trip to the Alpha conference in the UK.
  • For Todd’s upcoming participation in a Capetown 2010 worldwide mission event during September/Cotober 2010.
  • For funding for the secondary school in Soalara
  • For healing in Sakaraha
  • For seasonal weather in Madagascar, the U.S. and the U.K.  For the farming coops in Betaola and Sakaraha.
  • Madagascar was hit by a cyclone on 1/22/09.  Two of our rectories were damaged severly. Both of these families were living  in the church buildings.  Continue to pray for the restoration of cyclone damage including two roofs and kitchen repairs. (2/20/09).  Continued prayer support for these families as they continue to recover from the damage in their homes and communities (2010).
  • For political stability and stability of the leadership/government in Madagascar. Civil unrest occurred in several areas of Madagascar, including the capital, Antananarivo and in Tulear. (January-February 2009).  For God’s presence to be felt and for wisdom, discernment and peace among the leadership.  (Please view the direct link featuring Todd’s comments from the Christianity Today live blog, under “links” on the home page.)  8/31/09 Update: Continue to pray for the political situation and military leaders now in government.
  • Teaching and training of student Evangelists.  For the three new Evangelists that were commissioned at the end of April, 2009.  For the new class of 10-12 Evangelists and clergy students that will begin training in January 2010.
  • Building Project of the Cathedral Complex; for final land purchase/title completed and initial groundbreaking in October 2009 for the Bishop’s House and Training Center; for safety during construction and for workers on the site. Title work was completed and all necessary parcels were purchased in September 2009.  Please pray for additional donations for this complex, the Bishop’s Gathering Place.  Funds still needed for water and utilities (2010).

  • Survey and donation of the land for the Miaraka Resort and Spa; prayer and continued discernment from the business planning meeting  held in McLean, VA in May 2009 and in Florida in November 2009.  For the upcoming meeting in April 2010. Please pray for us to continue to find favor with the government.  For the oceanfront land and 10 acres that have been donated in Soalara (south of Toliara) in exchange for the construciton of a new secondary school for their community.  For the spiritual awakening, economic development and benefits that will come to this area.
  • Churches visited throughout this year; for our continued relationships and ministry together.
  • Corbi and Charese as they continue their education and classes this school year. Financial assistance for Corbi and Charese’s education.  For their summer plans, summer 2010.
  • Micro-finance projects, Women’s Agricultural land development with support of St. John’s McLean, VA., and the start of a development office in S. Madagascar.
  • Patsy’s continued discipleship of  several young ladies in Madagascar; continued revival of the youth.
  • For all our board members and Executive Officers; for wisdom, discernment and God’s blessing toward the 2015 strategic planning process.
  • For Patsy and Todd as they continue working on their Doctoral program at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts.  For their family time and visits with US family and friends.   Please pray for time for them to work on their final school papers and commitments.
  • For new churches being considered at Morandava and Toliara.  For a permanent church being established in Fort Dauphin under the leadership of Pastor Donne.  Please see current updates in “Our Work” section of website and read:    Kenya Missionaries Quarterly Report    
  • For outstanding grant requests and projects that are currently in consideration.

Mondays…pray for spiritual health and strength for missionaries, staff and board.

Tuesdays…pray for protection for the bishops, churches and people where SAMS missionaries serve.

Wednesdays…pray that SAMS missionaries will have boldness in proclaiming the Gospel and that their lives and the work of SAMS will witness to the love of God for all people.

Thursdays…pray for the physical endurance of missionaries, staff, board and the bishops and pastors where SAMS missionaries serve.

Fridays…give thanks for the hundreds of dioceses, churches and individuals who partner with SAMS and SAMS missionaries to bring God’s hope to others.

Saturdays…pray for God’s continued provision for His work through SAMS.

Sundays…praise the Lord for he is a missionary God who seeks to save the peoples of the earth.
